Welcome
The new automated warehouse is part of the ongoing modernisation and expansion of the site, replacing several buildings currently undergoing demolition and making the best use of previously developed land. The Encirc site is identified for employment development in the Council’s Local Plan (Cheshire West and Chester Local Plan (Part One) Policy EP 2.A.
The new warehouse will be located in the north of the site adjacent to the existing Automated Warehouse facility and will be a maximum height of 44m. The scheme also proposes a despatch building and service yard, and automated bridge link to the existing building.
The proposed development will adhere to important sustainability principles and will not result in an increase of HGV movements above the previously agreed limit for the facility.
This website presents the details of the proposed development and provides you with the opportunity to make comments on the scheme. Once this process is concluded, a full planning application will be submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council in August 2026.

An Introduction to Encirc
Encirc opened its Cheshire facility in Elton in 2005, and it is now one of the largest of its kind in the world. Originally designed to revolutionise glass manufacturing, the facility incorporates energy-efficient technologies and water treatment processes.
It has since expanded to support the full life cycle of glass beverage containers, including filling, storage and distribution.
The facilities evolution has also led to the development of logistics services on the Elton Site. In 2015, Encirc joined the Vidrala group, which has operations across Europe and South America. Building on the successes of the Elton and Derrylin (Northern Ireland) sites, Encirc acquired ‘The Park’ in Bristol in early 2023– a highly-advanced bottling facility that is powered by an on-site wind turbine.
This reflects the success of Encirc's technical capability and advancements in sustainability. Encirc is a forward-thinking manufacturer with a strong focus on the people and place of work. Its sustainability efforts are widely recognised, with significant process in reducing industrial carbon emissions and boosting energy efficiency.
